Barbara Adika, LCPC, LPC

Founder & Director of Clinical Partnerships

Barbara Adika has worked in strategic planning and development, marketing and communications, corporate relations, writing and editing in the health and healthcare industry. She is also a licensed professional counselor in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Barbara Adika founded The Psychotherapy and Behavioral Health Network (TPBHN), LLC in 2019 to support the mental health of individuals and communities. TPBHN exists a platform to provide administrative support to mental health providers on a contractual basis.

She previously worked as a consultant at the National Cancer Institute, the US Department of Health and Human Services, the US Department of Veterans Affairs, the Heart Rhythm Society, Council for a Strong America to name a few.  Barbara held this position from January 2015 to July 2017, where she generated ideas, wrote process and implementation plans and provided support to corporate leaders, internal and external stakeholders, clinical professionals  to improve the workforce for providers, quality patient outcomes and public health issues and policies in communities.

 

In her role, she values individuals and interactions that connect people; collaboration with clients and providers; adaptability and response and community health. She  oversees marketing strategies and effective functioning of digital properties including the electronic health record (EHR) systems used by the independent affiliated providers; evaluates contracts and contract modeling with managed care systems; identifies and develops strategic growth opportunities and develops competitive strategies in alignment with TPBHN's purpose of connecting therapists and clients for healthier communities.  She engages clinicians, managed care companies, community partners and individuals seeking mental health services in clinical partnerships, healthcare consulting, training, and utilization review. At TPBHN, partnership  between therapists and clients as well as communities and healthcare providers are where individual wellbeing and thriving communities come together. Healthcare providers, organizational leaders, community resources, community leaders, and residents join together in leadership, advocacy, serving and being served through strategic partnerships that create improved mental health and overall wellbeing and supported, collaborative healthcare ecosystem. Additionally, she serves a consultant to mental health providers who want to start or grow a private practice.

Barbara's philosophy around mental health is that when one person is living and struggling with mental health, families, communities, the workforce and humanity is impacted. She founded and expanded the priorities of Adika Counseling, to help support the connection between individuals looking for care and providers. TPHBHN supports mental health counselors by first connecting them with clients and then providing them with the administrative support they need.​

As a professional counselor, she gained direct clinical experience in private outpatient environments where she gained extensive experience in assessments, diagnoses, and conducting therapy sessions.

 

Barbara Adika completed her education in a chronological manner. She received her undergraduate degree in Journalism (Public Relations) from Bowling Green State University in 2008. Following this, she gained extensive experience in the healthcare industry before she pursued graduate studies in Clinical Mental health Counseling pursued further studies at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology between 2015 and 2017.
