Adika Counseling collaborates with mental health providers in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. We prioritize making sure therapists are able to impact their communities. We connect therapists with clients and take care of all administrative tasks such as marketing, credentialing, invoicing and claims submission, community support and more so that you can focus on your passion! We utilize our resources to help therapists get referrals to build a diverse caseload. All you have to do is sort out where you want to work from, who your ideal client is, when you want to work with the client.

Our mission is to support mental health by connecting therapist with clients in their communities so that families and communities are connected in healthy ways and attain optimum mental health.

How do we support therapists?
As your partner we will provide:

  • Free insurance credentialing: We have worked hard to build strong relationships with many insurance carriers and have developed a deep understanding of insurance credentialing in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC so you can have stability and clients can get care for reasonable in-network rates.

  • Telehealth: Therapists and their clients engage in mental health care from the comfort of home. We provide a supportive and confidential environment towards positive change. 

  • Referrals: You'll grow your caseload and find stability because we will credential you with insurance. We believe that everyone deserves a chance to live a fulfilling life and we are here to support your clients every step of the way. 

  • Dedicated Support: We'll take care of all administrative functions including invoicing, claims submission and payment processing so that you can focus on your passion and purpose. 

  • Self-Service Client Onboarding: We've developed a self-service electronic health record and client onboarding process that puts clients in control of their journey towards better mental health. they will get access to their intake packet and forms through this efficient process.

  • Built-in Peer Support: You'll have therapists like yourself to reach out to at any time.

  • Autonomy: Build the practice of your dreams! You own your client relationships and brand, we just help with admin stuff.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of most recent DSM/ICD 10 codes and descriptions, psychotropic medications and crisis intervention. Ability to diagnose with accuracy and in accordance with client’s clinical presentation, verbal report and responses to assessment tools.

  • Ability to administer evidence based assessment tools; score assessments; and determine appropriate ICD/DSM diagnosis.

  • Ability to collaborate with each client to develop and write measurable treatment plans to meet needs and goals of clients.

  • Cultural competence and ability to deliver appropriate care to BIPOC, AAPI, Latinx, LGBTQ+ and all other minority groups.

  • Demonstrate appropriate interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills when interacting with patients, stakeholders and treatment teams.

  • Ability to write clinically sound progress notes, reports and diagnostic assessments. Must be able to write progress notes and diagnostic assessment for each client.

  • Maintain clear, up-to-date patient records and communications in HIPAA compliant EHR

  • Must be organized and maintain files and records on each client so that complete and accurate information is available at all times. The practice uses an online EHR (Theranest).

  • Must submit progress notes for the week by 7pm on Fridays. Each session note must document intervention used, plan for next session, client progress, session focus etc.

  • Maintain good standing with all licensing boards.

  • Ability to follow COMAR, HIPAA and state and federal regulations that govern the delivery of clinical mental health.

  • Complete all required continuing education requirements for licensure and specializations.

  • This contractor role requires licensure credentials from a Maryland licensing Board to provide mental health counseling

  • Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (Maryland).

  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (Maryland).

  • Resident in Mental Health Counseling (Virginia)

  • Licensed  Professional Counselor (Virginia)

  • Resident in Counseling (Virginia)

  • School Psychology Resident (Virginia)

  • Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (Washington, DC)

  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (Washington, DC)

  • Licensed Graduate Social Worker or Licensed Master Social Worker (Maryland).

  • Licensed Graduate Social Worker or Licensed Master Social Worker (Virginia).

  • Licensed Graduate Social Worker or Licensed Master Social Worker (Washington, DC).

  • National Provider Identifier required at hire.

Training Standards

Cited from 2016 CACREP Standards

  •  After successful completion of the practicum, students complete 600 clock hours of supervised counseling internship in roles and settings with clients relevant to their specialty area.

  • Internship students have weekly interaction with supervisors that averages one hour per week of individual and/or triadic supervision throughout the internship, provided by (1) the site supervisor.

  • Internship students participate in an average of 1½ hours per week of group supervision on a regular schedule throughout the internship. 

  • Site supervisors have (1) a minimum of a master’s degree, preferably in counseling, or a related profession; (2) relevant certifications and/or licenses; (3) a minimum of two years of pertinent professional experience in the specialty area in which the student is enrolled; (4) knowledge of the program’s expectations, requirements, and evaluation procedures for students; and (5) relevant training in counseling supervision.
